QKIDS

What is Qkids?
Qkids (short for Queenswest Kids) is a time and space created for our children during each Sunday Service.  After a time of full community worship, the children (ages 3-7) are dismissed to their own space with several teachers where they do activities, hear and participate in a bible story, create a take home craft to help them remember what they have learned, and then, with the help of their caregivers, apply the gospel to their lives.

What is the purpose of the Qkids ministry?

The primary goal of the Qkids ministry is to partner with parents to train up our children in the way that they should go (Proverbs 22:6).  At Queenswest, we believe that our kids can and do walk daily toward a real relationship with our loving savior, regardless of their age.

The most important way that the Qkids ministry aids in that partnership is by showing the children the love of God through relationship with their peers and the Qkids team on Sunday mornings and beyond.  We seek to do this by creating a safe and fun environment where our kids get to experience loving relationships with one another and the Qkids teachers.  We also desire to help the children learn concrete knowledge about God through bible stories, memory verses, discussion, and hands on crafts and activities.

The bottom line is that we want our kids to feel loved because God loves them, and to learn about him through that experience.  This principle guides everything we do in Qkids.

Who teaches the children?
The Queenswest community has called Pastor Christina to lead the children’s ministry. Christina is joined each Sunday morning by one or two rotating volunteers; these are people who also have hearts to teach and love our kids in the name of Christ.

Parental concerns…
Giving people access to children in any context always raises concerns of safety, so here at Queenswest we work within a system that protects our kids.  To this end, we always encourage you to feedback to Pastor Christina with questions, concerns or suggestions, about safety and Qkids in general.

To make Qkids as safe as it can be, Christina and the Qkids team will walk your children to their class (a little journey you are welcome to join us on), and we always ask parents to pick up their children from the Qkids space promptly after service.  This way, we can be sure each child is safely handed off to his/her parent.

Additionally, volunteers are background checked by staff, and bathroom breaks are always done with a same sex adult.  For our preschoolers, we have the added protection of two adults present in the teaching setting.
